“At the Nuclear Precipice: Nuclear Weapons and the Abandonment of International Law”
UNA/UNESCO Santa Barbara is pleased to announce its co-sponsorship of 2006 International Law Symposium
February 23-25
The Symposium will kick off with a public forum on Thursday, February 23rd from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm at the Victoria Hall Theater (33 W. Victoria Street, Santa Barbara). The public forum will feature a group of highly respected experts in the area of nuclear policy:
Ambassador Thomas Graham – former senior US diplomat and negotiator on every major arms control and nonproliferation treaty of the past thirty years.
Daniel Ellsberg – former Defense Department analyst and whistleblower who released the Pentagon Papers in 1971.
Mairead Corrigan Maguire – 1976 Nobel Peace Laureate from Northern Ireland.Hon. Douglas Roche, O.C. – retired Canadian Senator and diplomat, Chair of the Middle Powers Initiative.
Richard Falk – Professor Emeritus of International Law and Practice at Princeton University and since 2002 has been Distinguished Visiting Professor of Global Studies at UC Santa Barbara.
